Thanks to @emacsomancer for forwarding to me this article about "demetrification" of social media wired.com/story/internet-healt (not showing like counts, follower counts, etc) and how dramatically user behavior is changed when we do expose these things.

Damn, the new release looks pretty slick. Can't wait for it to come to Manjaro repos.

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of GNOME 3.34, "Thessaloniki"! This release marks six months of intense effort from our developers, designers, and contributors, and we are thrilled to finally make it available to you all 😊

GNOME 3.34 is finally here, and like every new release, it's quite exciting to me. I really love the GNOME community and its software.

So, congratulations @gnome!

@cwebber Hi Chris. Steven here again. The tall Dutch guy you met at #RWOT9
I promised you to look up the trilemma I heard while listening to that podcast. Well it appeared they were referring to the impossible trinity... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impossib

#GMail is harmful to e-mail ecosystem; its antispam blocking policy matches too many valid messages as spam.

It blocked LastPass email leak warning email, because it contained "a link" to a leaked site.

It blocked an e-mail from goverment agency addressed directly to me.

It discriminates all non-gmail servers, and it's pretty much impossible to own a private SMTP server these days, because GMail will classify everything as spam.

It's not how e-mail should work.

Consider dropping GMail.

People are so disillusioned by the internet. There are a few people with Nazi profile pics so we're acting like WWII is happening all over again.

The small minority of "white nationalists" actually marching in the street with torches are a joke. They've always been there. They're just getting more attention now that we're giving it to them.

"See, we told you white supremacy is real! And by not agreeing with me you're one of them!"

Leftist fearmongering is strengthening them. Saying conservatives are racist is strengthening them.

Our political opponents are still are friends, they've just had different experiences than us. Don't laugh at your uncle's racist jokes, but don't shame him either. Ask him questions. Respect that he's had different experiences than you. Tell him how your experiences have shaped your views. Be honest about things that are objectively and anecdotally true. You have more in common than you think.

End #CallOutCulture. The internet has made us so much better, but also so much worse. We need to learn how to be friends again through this unfamiliar and dehumanizing interface. I hope we're evolved enough for it.

@lunduke A good idea, as long as it's not Proprietary Image Manipulation Program

Is forking the "GNU Image Manipulation Program" in order to give it a "less offensive name" a good idea or bad idea?

I’m still super in love with the newer Adwaita theme. It makes default GNOME look so beautiful, and I haven’t felt the need to use a theme since 3.32 launched with it.
